Sherwood FC U10 Blue 1 v 3 West Bridgford Saracens
A closer game than the scoreline suggests but a deserved victory nevertheless for West Bridgford. William opened the scoring for us after 10 minutes or so but a couple of minutes later we lost concentration and West Bridgford got the equaliser.
There was a better mood in the camp than of late which lasted for about a minute into the second half as West Bridgford forged ahead with a stunning strike from their No10. Given too much space midway into our half he looked up and lashed a beauty into the top left hand corner. We battled hard but couldn't find the goal we needed and West Bridgford rounded things off with a late third as we pressed for the equaliser.
For West Bridgford there were particularly good performances I thought from Ellie at the back, their goalkeeper and their No10 hat-trick hero.
For us, Harry W and George were strong at the back (and it would be easy to make either of them Man of the Match) Ivan made some excellent saves to keep us in the game and Tom worked hard in midfield.
Sometimes however I prefer to use the Man of the Match award as an encouragement rather than a strict reflection of superior play. This week therefore the award goes to Harry L because he got stuck in and showed more flashes of skill than usual. Well done Harry!
