Sherwood FC U10 Blue 0 v 1 Netherfield Boys Gold

Hecky thump! Today we allowed Neth Boys Gold to pick up their first points of the season courtesy of a late goal in a very tight game.  Both sides had their chances to win the game and I think it's fair to say that we had more than them.  However, they defended with resilience, particularly their Number 2 and their goalkeeper had a very safe pair of hands I thought.

Neth didn't just sit back and take it either, they carved out chances of their own and we were regularly found wanting at the back.  This was largely on account of following the ball rather than keeping our shape and good saves by first Simeon and then Ivan kept us in the game.  Netherfield also moved the ball quicker and more accurately around the team than we did.

We weren't fluent today, the passing and moving was off and we didn't seem to fancy shots on goal.  In fairness Netherfield made things difficult for us and they were always a threat on the break.

Just when a draw looked inevitable Netherfield engineered a two on one at the back with a nicely constructed break and they forged ahead with a confidently taken shot, one-on-one with our keeper.

Perhaps we can take comfort from the fact that we made their day (!), but we'll have to play a lot better than this if we're going to give Hucknall a game.  Man of the Match today for the biggest contribution to the team effort, with some solid tackling and quick accurate passing from midfield, was Joseph.  Well done Joe.
